Youthz
youthz
Writing on a post workout high.
Just went to the boxing class at Aneva and exerted my body in ways I haven’t in years.
It made me feel young again. The realization that although I’d been a lazy piece of shit in recent years, the sands of youth were still in the upper half of the hourglass and I still had time to move as a young man.
WHAT A FEELING!
Every week it feels like I forget more and more how bright and exciting the world used to be. Days like these make me realize that I am a fool if I let that feeling go too early.
Quick recap of the week
Work’s lowkey kicking my ass. New year, new team and I lost some hard earned context. In the process of rebuilding that context which is painful.
I really need to figure out my work schedule. Played around with booking wework on days that I don’t go to the office. Went today and I was still super distracted.
Is it just that it was the Monday blues or is it more of a fundamental schedule thing? I’d guess that it’s more of a schedule thing
Speaking of schedules—I am intrigued with how people spend their time. Started reading Daily Rituals by Mason Currey where the author examines the day to day life of historical figures. Interesting so far.
An interesting figure so far—Francis Bacon. Would wake up at the first light and work for hours until around noon. Immediately after he’d start drinking and start a long night of partying with friends. He’d try to stretch out the night to avoid his sleep issues (he had insomnia and would take pills to fall asleep).
“I often like working with a hangover because my mind is crackling with energy and I can think very clearly”—wtf
On a desperately free Saturday afternoon I went to the 5th ave library to get a sick new Spider Man library card.
Went on a few dates! Had a lot of fun. We had dinner at Nepali Bhanchha Ghar where I had Nepalese food for perhaps the second time in my life. I entered that date on Friday considerably stressed from the long work week before but two hours went by so quickly and I felt lifted afterwards—that’s a great sign, right? Stopped by Patel Brothers in Jackson Heights afterwards to pick up some snacks. I got a delicious haul. This one in particular was wickedly addictive and I’ve almost finished the bag in a span of a couple days. Tangy, crispy fried potato sticks with little surprises of raisins sprinkled through—texturally balanced by the cashews and almonds spread in the mix too.
Went to church again with Millie! I think I’ll go consistently. I like singing the songs and letting the message wash over me as I drift in and out of focus. The pastor’s funny too. I think he’s Korean.
