California / Pre Thanksgiving
I’m back baby. Back where it all started. California here we are.
Arrived on Wednesday. Flight back was meh. Amidst the Coronavirus United Airlines had decided not to institute social distancing rules (booooo) and I ended up with someone sitting in the row two seats away from me. I fell asleep and found out she had moved away while I’d been sleeping. I think my snoring got to her.
Newark Airport killin it with the pandemic safety ads
Watched Onward and I Love You Man on the flight. Onward was pretty good. Made me sad for them that the timing hadn’t worked out for them since they had opened at the start of the lockdown (March 6th!!!).
Can’t believe it but it’s been 11 years since I Love You Man came out. It’s aged relatively well and I’m still a fan. Good job Paul Rudd. Good job Jason Segel—I still remember the time you visited campus at UC Berkeley and sat on a bench by yourself. Everyone was freaking out and wondering why you were here just randomly sitting on a bench by alone.
Upon arrival I wanted to go to In N Out but the lines these days never seem to end. They seem busier now than I remember them ever being before the pandemic. Instead of braving the lines Mom and I decided to go to Benny’s Tacos & Rotisserie Chicken. Great California Burrito. Really struck a great balance with the fries to meat ratio. Got the carne asada—super flavorful. I sense a new LAX arrival tradition forming.
Being home is great. Feels like I never really left. Besides working a lot (trying to reach a deadline with some new feature before the code freeze) I also focused on finishing my Thanksgiving song. I’m proud to say that as of 11/15/2020 I am finally finished!
I’m starting a new segment called Song Stories to provide more in depth thoughts on each of the songs I make. Here’s the first one!
